About The Teacher

Welcome to 1/2D!

I am very excited and proud to be your child's teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.

My name is LeAnna Murtha-Toles. I am a 2004 graduate of the University of Alberta Bachelor of Education, 2017 graduate of the University of Portland Master of Educational Leadership, and current University of Portland Doctor of Education candidate. This is my ninth year at Robina Baker Elementary. Over my career, I have had the pleasure of teaching 8 Kindergarten, 6 Grade Two classes, 1 Grade One class, and 2 Grade One/Two Combined classes. My most recent placement was teaching Grade Two here at Robina Baker Elementary School.

Robina Baker Elementary is a wonderful, fun place to learn and the upcoming year will be a great experience for all. Your child will be learning in a classroom that is hands on and interactive. Various resources will be used to enhance the learning experience, including, but not limited to: literature, manipulatives, Chromebooks, iPads, and games. In addition, several programs and frameworks will be used in our classroom to aid in curricular content acquisition and to facilitate social development, these include: Daily 5, JUMP Math, concept based learning, project based learning, and collaborative groups.

My goal for this year is to assist all students in becoming the best that they can be, both as academics and as citizens. I hope that every child will leave this class with a strong understanding of the Alberta Education Curriculum and the knowledge that they are wonderful and special people.

I am looking forward to getting to know a wonderful group of children! All important information, curriculum updates, and pictures will be posted on the 1/2D blog at https://rbesteam.blogspot.com. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school (780.987.3705), by email (leanna.murthatoles@blackgold.ca), or by sending a note with your child.
