Today the Grade 2s were busy reading and solving subtraction word problems. They learned to identify words that indicate subtraction less than, difference, left, etc.). Ask your child to show you how to solve this problem at home:
There are ten apples in a tree.
Five apples fall to the ground
How many apples are left on the tree?
The Grade 1s learned to turn their shape patterns into number patterns.
i.e.: circle, square, square, circle, square, square is the same as 1,2,2,1,2,2
In writing, Miss Graham launched a week-long lesson called Monster in a Jar. Today, students heard a monster story and then created their monsters. I am excited to see the writing that they will created to support their illustrations!
