Gracie and Brooklyn created maps and brought them in to share with the class. They were fabulous! We were able to use the compass rose and our knowledge of the cardinal directions to navigate around their maps.
The Grade 1s focused on subitizing today in Math and they also used tens frames to play "who is greater".
The Grade 2s are currently working using a 100s chart as a strategy for adding two numbers together. Also, recognizing that the addends in a math equation can be presented in either order and the resulting sum will remain the same.

The first Grade 1 field trip of the year was a giant success. The students returned with many stories of games, hay bales, animals, and corn maze adventures! Thank you to Mrs. Marazzo & Mr. Wales who joined our students at the corn maze.
The Grade 2s had a Social Studies day today where we focused on mapping. They reviewed the cardinal directions and used written directions to locate and place things on a map. The final activity of the day was to follow the RBES map and accurately locate all classrooms and washrooms. Tomorrow we will continue this activity outside, where students will create an outdoor map of the school grounds.
