Today we learned a new math game, Flip to Make 10.  All you need is a deck of cards and you can practice basic fact at home in a fun and slightly competitive way!  Ask your child to teach you this game tonight!

In Daily 5 we launched our final rotation, Listen to Reading; we have 4 iPods in the classroom that are loaded with books that students can either listen to or follow along with the physical books.  According to the Daily 5 website, "Listen to Reading provides pronunciation and expression models that can only come from hearing fluent and expressive examples."

We love science experiments!  Today we used Susie's mitten to solve the question, "Are Mittens Warm".  We quickly realized that a mitten alone does not have an elevated temperature, but when Susie's hand was also in the mitten, the temperature rose.  This meant that the mitten is not warm, but that it is a good insulator and trapped the heat from Susie's hand.
