Welcome to 2D

It was a pleasure meeting many of you this evening at the Meet the Teacher BBQ!  I am excited for all the fun, adventures and learning we will have in 2D over the next 10 months. 

Important notes:

The first day of classes will be September 4, 2018.  The doors open at 8:20, come on down to the classroom with your child.  Be sure to stop at our photo booth and take an adorable photo with your child on his/her first day of class! 

In grade two, we do not have desks and will use some of our school supplies communally. This means that we share some of the supplies brought in at the beginning of the year among all of the students (specifically - pencils, erasers, pencil crayons, highlighters and glue). This helps to minimize waste, foster a sense of community in the classroom, and teach the importance of sharing. At the end of the year, remaining supplies will be divided evenly between students and sent home to reuse. The best news is that you will not need to label your child's supplies!!

We hope you have a great summer and we look forward to seeing everyone again in September!  You will receive an email from your child’s new teacher in August.

The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 4.  This will be a full day. Please call the school if your child is going to be absent that first morning. This is very important as we juggle changes in our registration numbers on that first day.

Parents, thank you for: volunteering, donating materials, sending party snacks, helping in the classroom, supporting your child's learning at home and coming to meetings!  Thank you for sharing your child with me this year, it was a joy to have been part of their educational journey.

Have a wonderful summer, 2D students, and all the best over the next 10 years of school!  I can't wait to see you in the hallways, chat during recess and watch as you grow and continue being amazing.

We had a BLAST at Miquelon Lake learning about animal homes, the food chain and insects/spiders.  Thank you to the outstanding parents volunteers, Mrs. McNirney, Mrs. Marrelli & Ms. Oikle, who helped facilitate many of the sessions and ensured all of the students had a great time.  We appreciate you!

June 21, 2018

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day.  We acknowledged this special day by having a special guest, Mrs. Fouillard, lead our morning assembly. We also had the privilege of joining a round dance, lead by the incredibly talented students from Ben Calf Robe School in Edmonton.   

We also celebrated the accomplishments of our track athletes today.  Congratulations again to all students who participated.  

Reminder to parents that tomorrow is our field trip.  Please check your child's agenda and your email for important information.

Today in Science, students classified bugs as either helpful or harmful.  

Students have been hard at work creating their realistic fiction.  I encourage them to continue using the strategies they are working on to write stories at home over the summer.
