How to animals stay warm in the Far North?  Today we took a polar dip in some icy water - BRRRrrr!!  However, when we put on our blubber glove, our hands stayed warm and dry.  Polar bears have 10cm of blubber today we realized just how important that protection is!  
 

In the afternoon, the lady from Jump Rope for Heart was in teaching us all about ways to keep our hearts healthy!  Exercise, healthy food, rest and lots of water are all important for growing bodies.  The school will be participating in the Jump Rope event on February 14, students are encouraged to fundraise, more information can be found in the package that your child will be bringing home.

- Tomorrow is a PD Day, there is no class for students.

HOT CHOCOLATE DAY!!  Today students tested their Hot Chocolate Storage Container (insulators) in a 2 hour long experiment.  Congratulations to Sawsha, whose container retained the most heat; it was made of our two three insulators: wood, styrofoam and plastic.  

We culminated this day by celebrating student accomplishments with a tasty treat!  Cheers!

Congratulations to Jay, who was the 2D Student of the Week!


In art today, students completed their Cardinals in the Snow art project.  They are on display in our hallway, swing by and check them out!

It's hockey day!  Students who had full face masks were invited to bring their sticks and play some hockey with their buddies.  Thank you again to the NAX players who were able to make it out this week and skate with their buddies.  We appreciated all of your support!  Also, a huge thank you to the parents who came and tied skates and joined us on the ice!  Your extra hands were appreciated!


In art, students drew their cardinals and began painting the sky, using our favourite fancy sparkle paint!

Thank you again to everyone who joined us on the ice and in the dressing room today.  This skating week is always a fun one!
 

In Math, we continued our 2D shape exploration.  Today students connected the dots to reveal a variety of shapes!  


Reminder: 
- Hockey sticks are welcome on the ice tomorrow.  Students must have a cage to participate in the hockey activities.

It's skating week!!!  Thank you in advance to all of the parents who have offered to come out and help.  Also to the NAX buddies who are volunteering their time on days when they do not have exams.  We couldn't do this fun event with all of your support!
