We ended our day by looking through Mrs. Luciw's photos from her trip to Churchill Manitoba and measuring each student's height against the height of an average adult male polar bear. We are feeling pretty tiny today!

Students began their month-long research project on Polar Bears today. They learned how to read non-fiction and take point form notes. We will complete this task 8 times, then learn how to turn the point form notes into complete sentences and a final research product.

Students shared their current knowledge of 2D shapes by creating objects that included shapes. For example: a bike tire has a circle, a house has a square and a triangle.
Our basic fact focus is Make 10. We learned Make 10 On My Head today. This is a game that you can play at home, all that is needed is one deck of cards.
Reading thermometers is a real skill. Yesterday, students practiced on paper thermometers, and today they were ready to move around the school and check the temperatures in a variety of rooms around the building.

Today we talked about reading analogue thermometers. Students learned about the difference between temperatures that are above zero and those that are below zero. Reading thermometers is a very tricky task. Students focused hard on this skill, preparing for a fun task planned for tomorrow.
