Today students continued learning about Iqaluit and wrote their names in Inuktitut (an Inuit language of Canada).  They also learned about the Inuksuk and other exciting aspects of Inuit life.

In Math, students began their study of basic shapes.  The Shapes Unit is a fun exploration of the world around us that students always enjoy.

Today was the first day of skating!  Thank you to all of the amazing 2B parent volunteers who offered to help on the ice or by tying skates.  Without your support this amazing physical education opportunity would not be possible.   You are the best!

In Science, students launched their new unit on Polar Bears by completing a KWL.  It is outstanding to see how much 2B students already know about Polar Bears and I look forward to all of the learning we will do on this topic over the month of January.

Today in Math, we played Number Scoot!  It is a class favourite, there are many versions available online that can be downloaded for free and played at home.

In gym we practiced kicking and catching with a game of Modified Kickball.

Date Change Notice: Beach Day has been moved to January 27th.

Gym was a blast yesterday and today.  Mr. Larsen is teaching 2A and 2B all about movement to music.  I really enjoyed seeing all of the creative moves students demonstrated today.

In LA, we began making revisions for detail in our Small Moment stories.  Students learned the author saying "When you're done, you've just begun." It is amazing to see how a story can grow when you add to original ideas!  Keep up the fabulous writing!

Today we learned the term estimate.  Students used a variety of manipulatives to practice the concept of estimation.

It was great to be back!  I enjoyed reading all of the exciting stories that the students wrote today about their Christmas Vacations!

We spent the morning getting back into our routine and practicing our number making skills using rods and cubes.

Reminders:
Wednesday is Early Dismissal.
We are actively seeking a parent volunteer for Tuesday/Thursday skating next week.
