The Bike Rodeo is always a huge hit, students love riding their bikes around the arena. During the rodeo, students participated in 5 different activities where control and balance were essential for success. It was a fun way to end Bike Week! Thank you to all of the parents who made arrangements to bring your child's bike and also pick it up.
Students enjoyed working through length/height scoots today, prior to their assessment on this concept.
Next week we begin swimming lessons! Please ensure your child has a towel and swimsuit Tuesday morning. I ask that all students wear their suits to school and bring underclothes in their backpack to change into. Also, bring a large towel and sandals, as we will be changing here at the school and running back and forth to the pool.
Have an amazing extra long weekend!!

Students had a great time learning with Mrs. Cross, while I was away at an assessment training session.
Ask your child to tell you the interesting things that they have learned about the community of Saskatoon.
Students were hard at work measuring and weighing objects over the past two days. They are quickly becoming measuring experts!

Congratulations to Noah, who was the 2D Student of the Week!
Members of the Devon Bicycle Association volunteered their time at RBES today and checked every student's helmet. Each child is brining home a checklist from their helmet check. Please review this form and make any required modifications prior to Monday's Bike Safely Week.
Please bring your child's bike and helmet directly into the gym on Monday morning. Be sure everything is clearly marked with their name. Bikes can be stored in the gym for the week, but will need to be picked up from the gym at the end of the day on Friday.

TODAY WAS BOAT DAY! Check out our pics HERE.
In the morning, students completed a boat research project, where they learned all about the parts of boats, types of boats, ways to make them move, and boat shapes.
After recess, students rotated through 4 experiments in each of the Grade 2 classrooms: Clay Boat experiment, Sailboat Demo/ Experiment, Jet Boat Demo, Paddle Boat Demo

Then in the afternoon, it was time to put all of this knowledge to the test. Students designed and created a boat that they felt would float, propel and cary a load. Then we tested the boats. EEKS! We realized that some modifications were needed, so students went back to work on their boats. At the end of the day, they tested their final products. Congratulations, 2D Fishermen, on a job well done!

CHEESE! Today was class picture day.
Mrs. Letcher was in our classroom this morning and student had an amazing time participating in MORNING MEASUREMENT MADNESS! This was the launch to our measurement unit, which students will be working on over the next two weeks. Today, students learned the difference between standard and non-standard measurement. They used non-standard units to measure various objects around our classroom. Ask your child to measure your kitchen table this evening using the non-standard unit, forks.
In the afternoon, track students worked with Mrs. Kloschinsky, practicing for the big track meet next week. Non-track students had their physical education class with Mrs. Mullen, Mrs. Suter, Mrs. Coleman and myself. It was a beautiful day to be outside!
Thank you to the families who have donated boat building materials to our Boat Day. We look forward to receiving more materials tomorrow.

- Please send in materials for Boat Day.
- Library will be on Wednesday this week.
- Bring bike helmets for the fitting session on Friday.
- Please complete the Bike Safety and Swimming permission forms in Powerschool.
