A Message from the Office

We hope you have a great summer and we look forward to seeing everyone again in September!  You will receive an email from your child’s new teacher in August.

The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 5.  This will be a full day. Please call the school if your child is going to be absent that first morning. This is very important as we juggle changes in our registration numbers on that first day.

School supply information can be found on our website at    http://rbes.blackgold.ca/parents/school-supplies/   You can order packages throughout the summer, however, there is an additional charge of $5 after the August long weekend.

Additional Summer and September Information can be found on our website on our home page.

During the summer, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Principal, Mrs. Kloschinsky, by email: kathy.kloschinsky@blackgold.ca

One of the students favourite parts of going swimming is when they get to "fly" with the capes over to the pool!!

Miquelon Lake: Mrs. Cassell
Swimming: Mrs. Webb, Mr. Tatchell, Mrs. Babb and Mrs. Wagner

We are swimming again this week!  Remember to send flip flops, suit and towel each day.

One of the greatest things about going to University while teaching is that I have an opportunity to bring my professional development into my classroom as soon as I learn something new!  Students and I have been exploring the idea of Concept Attainment through an activity we call "Guess my Rule".  Today students created their own presentation and shared it with a partner.  Tomorrow they will create another one showing something that they have learned in their final Science units, we can't wait!!

Hands on exploration is awesome!  Or in today's case - bodies on.  In Math, we used our bodies as the unit of measure to measure a few large spaces.  Can you believe that our classroom is 7 1/2 Makaylah's long?!  The hallway is 40 1-2E Students Long and the entrance way to the school is 31 1-2E Students long!

We also explored how to measure around objects by using a measurement string and clip.

In gym, we have been working on our trowing and catching skills using a fun summer object - the FRISBEE!!  Today we used these skills in a game of Ultimate Frisbee.  Ask your child to teach you how to play, it is sure to be a summer hit!
